Mobilicity Mobile Internet
Mobilicity introduced their mobile internet services as a response to Canadian consumers demanding a more affordable way to access the internet. Research has shown that Canadians not only spend almost double the amount of time online when compared to the rest of the world, they also pay some of the highest rates in the world too. With iPhones, iPads and Android phones being such a dominant force in today’s world, the need for internet-on-the-go has increased dramatically.
Unlimited:
Mobilicity opted to keep their mobile internet offering simple. They offer one main internet service, and it’s totally uncapped. Mobilicity’s Unlimited Internet Access is available for a flat fee of $40 a month. However, existing Mobilicity mobile phone customers can get it for $20 a month if it’s bundled together with their voice plan. To take advantage of this as a new customer just get both a standard voice plan and the unlimited internet plan together at once. That will save you a lot of money.
Their service is remarkable in that it is a truly unlimited plan. There are no caps of any kind. Not even a soft cap hidden in the fine print. So you can get ready for true internet freedom and massive downloads.
This service is targeted at people who want to check email, surf Facebook and get online wherever they happen to find themselves. For as long as they want too without worrying about how big their bill is going to be at the end of the month.
Coverage:
The Unlimited Internet Access service is available in Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto and Montreal. While this is a great offer, not all of Canada is covered with this service, only the main metropolitan areas.
Hardware:
The stick modem on offer from Mobilicity is the Huawei E1691 Data Stick. It has a Micro SD expandable memory card and is designed for use with their Unlimited Data Stick Plan. It automatically installs it’s own drivers that your computer needs for it to run, has a rotating design to accommodate the many styles and shapes of laptops out there today and has a useful connection manager app bundled in.
To run the Huawei E1691 stick you will need the following:
Windows: 7, 2000 service pack 4, XP service pack 2 or service pack 3, Vista service pack 1 or service pack 2
Mac OS: 10.4, 10.5 and 10.6 with the newest upgrades
800 x 600 or higher display resolution
USB input

If you don’t really need an unlimited plan, you still have the option of downloading the occasional app or bit of content. However, this will cost you $1.50/MB and the fee is deducted from your ‘My Wallet’ feature (this is used to pay for pay-per-use services). If you already have a data plan with Mobilicity, you can upgrade it to the Unlimited Data Plan for an additional $10 per month.
Mobilicity was formerly known as DAVE wireless and has two animated ‘spokesaliens’ that represent the company in it’s advertising.
